Living and learning on the Autism spectrum

Overview

Life can be challenging, yet so rewarding, with a child living and learning on the autism spectrum. Parents often struggle to find the right combination of education, behavioral health services and family support, or they may not know what help is available when raising a child on the spectrum.

Great Circle offers a broad array of services to children and families dealing with autism and related cognitive disorders.  Our nationally accredited Autism Center for Excellence provides treatment for children and adolescents ages 6–21 who have been diagnosed with autism, pervasive developmental disorder, higher-functioning autism or communication disorders.

Autism Programs

  • Our in-facility respite program gives families time to take a break and take care of themselves, while their children are in a safe, structured and needs-based environment with trained professionals. There’s also a focus on helping the children acquire independent living and social skills.
  • Education/day treatment services in St. Louis and St. James provide individualized guidance for children diagnosed with autism as well as a variety of communication disorders and cognitive delays.
  • Summer camp program for children with autism at Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch, in Steelville, MO, helps children grow developmentally and improve their self-awareness and social skills through the great outdoors.

Getting Help

Our staff focuses on coping skills, independent living and social skills, along with providing family support. Most new students and patients enter our autism programs through a referral from the child’s school system. Our coordinators help connect parents to specific services needed and help unlock the network of support available through Great Circle. If you have questions or want information, please call 1-844-424-3577 (GC HELPS).
